Workshop: Faith and Business

The Well Ordered Company | Tom Tropp

A Discussion of the impact of Christian Principles on the Corporate Entity

Philosophers and Theologians have argued for centuries whether secular thinking and religious thinking can comingle.  The Second Century Theologian Tertullian asked, “What has Athens to do with Jerusalem?”  In the Twenty-First Century we ask, “What has Wall Street to do with the Jerusalem?”

Is it possible and appropriate to imbed our Christian beliefs into our Business?  What is Business Ethics, and what has that to do with Religious Belief?

Global Chief Ethics Officer at Gallagher

Gallagher is a Fortune 500 Company with over 50,000 employees in 130 countries.

Tom Tropp holds an MA in Religious Ethics from the University of Chicago. He is a former Elder at Christ Church and will lead the workshop related to business and faith.

It is Tom’s great honor to travel the world visiting Gallagher employees in their offices to share the values of the company and listen to their concerns and pleasures. His job is to make sure Gallagher is doing the things that they have said they "should" do. That's what Ethics is all about; Compliance tells us what we "must" do and Ethics tells us what we "should" do.
